Process
Every engagement is different, but the path to getting started follows a consistent structure. Here’s what to expect.
We begin with a 30-minute conversation to learn about your business — where you are, what’s working, and where the pressure points are. We’ll discuss the maturity of your financial operations and what you’re looking for in a financial leadership partner.
This call is an opportunity for both of us to determine whether it makes sense to move forward.
If there’s a clear fit, we schedule a dedicated discovery meeting to understand your business model, financials, existing systems, and goals in depth. A thoughtful proposal requires a thorough understanding of your business — this is where we build it.
Based on our discovery meeting, we prepare a proposed scope of work tailored to your business’s needs and stage. Once agreed, we formalize the engagement.
Once engaged, we spend time getting to know your business thoroughly. This includes a review of your financials, systems, and processes — and an honest assessment of where things stand. We identify immediate priorities and establish the reporting cadence and tools that will support our ongoing work together.
An fCFO engagement works best when leadership is engaged and available. We’ll be clear about what we need from you and when, so the relationship is productive from the start.
For retainer clients, the engagement settles into a consistent monthly rhythm: financial reporting and variance analysis, cash flow forecasting, KPI review, and a regular strategy meeting with leadership.
Between meetings, we remain available as decisions arise — the kind of ongoing access that makes the relationship function as true financial leadership.
As your business evolves, the scope of work will too.
